Independent Non-Executive Director – Digital
Grand Départ GB 2027 Ltd
Independent Non-Executive Director – Digital
In 2027 the UK will host the Grand Départ of both the Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. This will be the first time in history that both races have departed from the same country outside of France. A landmark social impact programme will also be delivered across the UK, tackling inactivity, improving mental wellbeing, boosting economic growth and supporting communities to thrive.
A Special Purpose Vehicle – Grand Départ GB 2027 Ltd – will maintain oversight of the delivery of the events and manage public funding on behalf of DCMS, Scottish Government, Welsh Government and UK Sport. The SPV is a joint venture between UK Events Limited and British Cycling.
We are now seeking to appoint an Independent Non-Executive Director with strong digital, data and technology expertise to join the Board of Grand Départ GB 2027 Ltd. This is a high-profile opportunity to support the successful delivery of one of the biggest free-to-watch sporting events ever staged in the UK, while helping to shape outstanding audience experience, operational resilience and long-term legacy.
What will you be doing?
You will provide independent, strategic and constructive Board leadership, with particular responsibility for digital strategy, data and technology oversight. You will help ensure digital investment and delivery strengthens customer and stakeholder experience, event operations, resilience, insight, engagement and legacy.
You will bring specialist challenge and advice across digital roadmaps, technology priorities, data governance, cyber security, service resilience, supplier models, platforms, CRM, content, accessibility and digitally enabled event delivery.
You will help the Board understand dependencies between technology, operations, suppliers, partners, local stakeholders and the live event environment, ensuring digital decisions remain proportionate, inclusive, secure and aligned to the wider event objectives.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with significant senior leadership experience in digital transformation, product, technology, data, customer experience or a closely related discipline. You will have experience of leading or overseeing digital strategies and roadmaps in complex, customer-facing or timebound environments.
You will bring strong knowledge of digital platforms, data strategy and governance, analytics and insight, privacy, cyber security, resilience and technology risk at Board or executive level. Experience of major sporting or public-facing events would be highly valuable.
You will be independent, values-led and collaborative, able to challenge constructively while supporting high-quality decision-making in a high-profile environment. A commitment to inclusion, accessibility, sustainability, integrity and positive legacy will be essential.
Position is likely to be required until December 2027
